I'm Dating a Non-Believer

Updated: 5 days ago

There is a term circulating called Missionary Dating. This is the modern idea that a Christian can date a non-Christian with the goal of leading that person to faith in Christ.

Are you dating someone who does not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Most Christians who attach themselves to a non-believer actually think they are the best chance that their unsaved date will ever have for knowing Jesus! Please, don’t be deceived! People will claim that he or she believes it is their mission to win that boyfriend or girlfriend to Christ only to justify their decision to date them. We must understand that dating someone is NOT a requirement for winning them. There are no guarantees in life, and this includes the salvation of the person you are dating. God gives each person free will. Christ waits to be wanted, and so should you!

If you’re a believer dating an unsaved person, your date has not only rejected the Lord but also the Lord living in you! Therefore, he or she does not want ALL of you! You are God’s, and He is jealous for you! Any emotional attachment you have toward a person who is not on the same spiritual page as you, or vice versa, is an unhealthy attachment and is an indicator of what you believe about God and yourself. People may claim that they are only staying with that person because they want to be a good influence on them, BUT we have been there, DONE THAT!!! It doesn’t work! The truth is that those people really don’t believe that because if it was NOT their situation they would not endorse or encourage such a thing. Remember non-believers act and behave like non-believers.

What could someone really expect to gain from such a relationship?
